VIGILANCE CAUGHT RED HANDED REVENUE PATWARI OF AMRITSAR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF 50 THOUSANDS

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing drive against corruption under the zero tolerance policy adopted by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government, on Wednesday, has arrested Harpreet Singh, Revenue Patwari, posted at revenue halqua Sultanwind, Amritsar red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 50000. 

(MOREPIC1)  An official spokesperson of the state VB informed that the arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by a complainant of Sultanwind, in Amritsar.

He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the aforementioned Patwari had demanded a bribe of Rs 2,50,000 for making correction in the revenue record pertaining to his plot. As per the complaint the Patwari asked the complainant that the bribe money would be shared with Tehsildar and Girdawar and he would take Rs 50000 out of this amount.

The spokesperson further added that after a preliminary verification of this complaint a VB team from Amritsar range laid a trap during which the said accused was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case has been registered against the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station at Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigations are underway, he said.
