As per the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, a blackout drill will be held in Fazilka district on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 10 pm to 10.30 pm.

Additional District Magistrate Dr. Mandeep Kaur said that during this time, people in every village and city of the district will keep all types of lights off. She said that this is a normal rehearsal and there is no need to panic, but she appealed to all the residents of the district to cooperate in this rehearsal. Apart from this, a mock drill will be held at 11 am during the day.

She said that a siren will sound for the beginning of the blackout. When the siren sounds, all the lights have to be turned off immediately and a siren will also sound at the end of the blackout period, after which the lights can be turned on. She appealed to the district residents that no kind of light should be turned on during the blackout.

If there is an inverter in the house, then the lights connected to it should also be turned off. The street lights will also be turned off at this time. During this time, if someone is on the road, then he/she should park the vehicle at a safe place on the side of the road and turn off the vehicle lights. Many CCTV cameras also have lights on, such lights should also be turned off. Similarly, since the electricity supply will be turned off during this time by the PSPCL, no citizen should turn on any light even through a generator or inverter. EOM
