GANGSTER VISHAL PACHAR’S “HENCHMAN” APPREHENDED FOR SHOOTING IN SANT NAGAR; TWO FLED THE SCENE

Police have apprehended one of three suspects involved in a daylight shooting incident targeting Ajay Kumar, in Sant Nagar, on Sunday. During the operation, the accused opened fire on the police; in the ensuing confrontation, one youth was shot in the leg and subsequently admitted to the Civil Hospital, from where he was referred elsewhere. A search is underway for the two other youths who escaped the scene.

SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said that a CIA team spotted three youths approaching on a motorcycle. When police attempted to stop them, the rider sped off towards Fazilka; during the ensuing chase, the motorcycle skidded and fell due to excessive speed. The youths opened fire on the police, prompting the team to return fire in self-defence, resulting in one youth—identified as Gautam Dhetarwal, of Ganeshgarh, Sriganganagar—being shot in the leg. Raids are on-going to locate his two accomplices who fled the scene. A pistol was recovered from the apprehended youth; however, the specific pistol used in the shooting incident has not yet been recovered, as it is in the possession of Sagar Nepali—who had allegedly fired at Ajay—and managed to escape.

Police have registered a case against Sagar Nepali of Patel Nagar, Abohar, Vishal Pachar (alias Boxer) of Sriganganagar, Gautam Dhetarwal of Ganeshgarh, and some unidentified youths under Sections 109 and 61(2) of the BNS and relevant sections of the Arms Act.

Sagar Nepali already has three criminal cases registered against him in Abohar and Muktsar, while Gautam Dhetarwal faces four cases in Rajasthan. Vishal Pachar of Purani Abadi, Sriganganagar, has around half a dozen cases registered against him in different states. Police in Sriganganagar believed that Pachar was operating from abroad.
