The Sirsa MP, Former Union Minister, Congress General Secretary, Congress Working Committee (CWC) Member and Uttarakhand Incharge Kumari Selja said the Congress would raise issues concerning students, education reforms and other public concerns forcefully during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. Selja said attempts to suppress issues affecting students, youth, farmers, sportspersons and ordinary citizens are inconsistent with democratic values. She asserted that peaceful dissent and public opinion must be respected, and governments are accountable for addressing citizens’ concerns. She said the Congress has consistently highlighted issues relating to irregularities in competitive examinations and the concerns of students.
According to Kumari Selja, the “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign, which began in Kota and later continued in Dehradun, has evolved into a symbol of the aspirations and concerns of young people across the country. Kumari Selja said Congress MPs would raise issues related to education, employment, agriculture, inflation, law and order and other matters of public importance in both Houses of Parliament. She expressed hope that these subjects would receive meaningful debate and that the government would be required to respond.
Commenting on political developments in Uttarakhand, Kumari Selja said the party’s programmes in the state have received encouraging public support. She announced that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is scheduled to lead a major programme in early August, followed by visits from other senior party leaders, expressing confidence that public support for the Congress in the state would continue to grow.
Kumari Selja also said the Congress leadership has written to the Prime Minister seeking an independent and impartial inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities associated with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. She said complete transparency regarding donations, including cash, gold, silver and other offerings made by devotees, is essential to maintain public confidence. She reiterated that the Congress remains committed to the principles of public welfare, transparency, accountability and democratic values, and would continue to raise issues concerning youth, farmers, women and ordinary citizens through constitutional and democratic means.
CHHATRON KI GOONJ’ HAS BECOME THE VOICE OF YOUTH DEMANDING A TRANSPARENT EDUCATION SYSTEM: KUMARI SELJA
Kumari Selja on Saturday said the “Chhatron Ki Goonj–Chhatra Samvad” campaign has emerged as a nationwide platform reflecting the aspirations of students seeking a transparent, fair and accountable education system.
Addressing the programme organised by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Kumari Selja said students across the country are increasingly raising concerns over employment opportunities, the quality of education and the integrity of the examination system. She said Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has consistently highlighted these issues and has been raising students’ concerns both inside Parliament and through public outreach.
Kumari Selja said reports of student grievances from Kota, Dehradun and several other parts of the country underline growing anxiety over recurring paper leaks, irregularities in recruitment examinations and shortcomings in the education system. According to her, such developments have placed the future of thousands of young aspirants at risk.
She said parents invest years of hard work, resources and hope in their children’s education, and repeated examination irregularities undermine their confidence while causing emotional and financial distress to families.
Reiterating the Congress party’s position, Kumari Selja said ensuring a transparent examination process, strengthening educational institutions and safeguarding students’ rights remain key priorities. She added that the party would continue to press for accountability and comprehensive reforms aimed at restoring public confidence in the country’s education and recruitment systems.
