A beautiful confluence of Punjab’s culture, traditions and women’s participation was witnessed in Doaba today, where a large number of women enthusiastically participated in Teej celebrations organised in Nawanshahr and Phillaur. At these events, adorned with the vibrant colours of Punjab’s culture, women warmly welcomed Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann.

Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that Teej is not just a festival, but a celebration of the happiness, confidence and mutual bonding of Punjab’s daughters and sisters. Such programmes serve as a medium to carry forward our rich Punjabi heritage to the next generation.

She said that women in Punjab today are more aware than ever of their rights and dignity. The enthusiasm among women and their trust in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann indicate that the policies and functioning of the Mann Government are receiving strong support from the mothers and sisters of Punjab.

In Nawanshahr, the programme was organised in a grand manner under the leadership of Halqa In-charge Robby Kang. Praising Kang, Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that working while staying among the people and strongly raising their voice is the real test of anyone entrusted with a responsibility.

Meanwhile, in Phillaur, people also showed enthusiasm over a woman being given the responsibility of Halqa In-charge for the first time. Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that giving women leadership responsibilities is not merely about increasing representation, but is also a symbol of the growing role of women in Punjab’s politics and the trust placed in their leadership capabilities. She said that the Phillaur Halqa In-charge has been continuously engaging with the public and is actively carrying out her responsibilities.

During the programmes, Gurpreet Kaur Mann shared the joys of Teej with women and also discussed the government’s efforts for women, including the Maavan-Dheeyan Scheme. Punjabi folk culture, traditional attire and the colourful atmosphere at the programmes immersed the entire Doaba region in the colours of Teej.

Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that Punjab’s progress will be complete only when every woman in Punjab is strong, respected and self-reliant. The Mann Government is committed to empowering women and giving them new leadership responsibilities with this very vision.
