THE BJP’S 12 YEARS MARKED BY PUBLICITY, RENAMING OF SCHEMES AND UNFULFILLED PROMISES: KUMARI SELJA

Face2News/Chandigarh

The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja alleged that the BJP-led Centre had spent the last 12 years focusing on publicity campaigns, renaming existing schemes and making promises that remained largely unfulfilled.

In a press statement, Kumari Selja said India’s development story was built on institutions and infrastructure created during Congress governments, particularly under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru. She said major projects and institutions, including Bhakra-Nangal, AIIMS, IITs, public sector enterprises, steel plants and scientific research establishments, laid the foundation of modern India. The country’s progress cannot be measured through publicity alone. Governments should be judged by improvements in employment, education, healthcare and economic security, she said.

Kumari Selja also criticised the Centre over unemployment, inflation and farmers’ issues, alleging that key promises such as bringing back black money, doubling farmers’ income and generating large-scale employment had not been fulfilled. She further claimed that several schemes launched by previous Congress governments had been rebranded and presented as new initiatives.

Kumari Selja said rising fuel and cooking gas prices had increased the financial burden on households, while small businesses continued to face challenges under the GST regime. She maintained that India needed a development model centred on jobs, agriculture, education, healthcare and social justice rather than image-building and publicity-driven politics.
