Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain has announced to extend the last date for payment of property tax, along with exemption of 25 per cent, in municipalities, till March 31, 2017. The State Government had earlier announced to grant the exemption between February 2 and 28, 2017.The exemption of 25 per cent is being given to those property owners who clear all their property tax dues and arrears.Apart from this, one per cent rebate would also be given if the payment of property tax is made online. In view of the rush of property tax payers and delay in receipt of property tax bills by the owners, Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, has approved the proposal to extend the last date for payment of property tax. Mrs. Kavita Jain said that Municipality Officers had been directed to inform the people about this decision so that they could avail the benefit of exemption. The officers have also been directed to remove the errors in the property tax, which were identified during survey and to re-check the cover area so that people would not have to pay more than the actual amount due.
