Rio Olympics silver medalist and world No. 5 Pusarla V. Sindhu  defeated top seed and World No. 3 Carolina Marin of Spain 21-19, 21-16 in the women's singles final of the BWF Metlife Yonex Sunrise India Open World Super Series at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here today.  The match lasted 47 minutes.It was fourth win, second in succession, for Sindhu over Carolina out of nine meetings so far. Sindhu, a product of Gopichand Academy, Sindhu had last beaten Carolina in the Dubai World Superseries in Dubai in December 16. In the Rio Olym;pics Carolina had prevailed over Sindhu  19-21. 21-12, 21-15. Third seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark outpointed  seventh seed Chou Tien Chen of  Chinese Taipei  21-13 21-10 in the men's singles in just 36 minutes.

Women's singles: Pusarla V. Sindhu [3] (India) bt  Carolina Marin [1] (Spain) 21-19, 21-16.
