FIRST NATIONAL SIKH DAY CELEBERATED IN INDIANAPOLIS

INDIANAPOLIS: Sikh history was written in Indianapolis, United State of America as the First National Sikh Day was celebrated at the Indiana State House on the holiest Sikh day of Vaisakhi celebrating 318th anniversary of 'Creation of Khalsa' by the 10th Guru of the Sikhs Shree Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. Sikhs Political Action Committee, spearheaded by Gurinder Singh Khalsa, organised the function. The Hoosier Sikhs turned out in a large number to participate in the celebrations.

 
 
Besides the chief guest Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, the First Lady and the prominent elected officials of Indiana including Senators and Mayors of many cities across the state attended the function.SikhsPAC founder and chairman Gurinder Singh Khalsa, who orginally hails from Punjab (India) and other members of the Sikh community welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, acknowledged and appreciated the invaluable contribution the American Sikhs have made to the state of Indiana and United States. The Hoosier Sikhs are involved in business, military, transport trucking, petrol pumps and other trades.

 Mr Gurinder Singh Khalsa said that the main idea behing creation of Khalsa is to prepare, stand and service. The Governor felicitated the Head priests and presidents of all of the Gurdwara Sahibs (Sikh places of worship) of Indiana along with other prominent Sikhs, including renowned artist and interfaith leader KP Singh, who will be completing 50 years in United States later this year. Khalsa Khalsa of Sikh PAC and Direct Connect Logistix, Inc. were thanked for their generous gift of $ 12,000 to The People Helping People Network to support those in need. 

 
 
It may be recalled that the Indiana Senate had recognized and acknowledged the significant contributions that American Sikhs have made across the United States and to the State of Indiana.The Indiana Senate had adopted and passed a "Sikh Resolution" which was introduced on April 20, 2017 on the occasion of Vaisakhi as "National Sikh Day." The resolution was introduced by Senator Aaron Freeman. The Senate recognizes and acknowledges the significant contributions that American Sikhs have made across the United States and to the State of Indiana on this great occasion of Vaisakhi as "National Sikh Day."
