With a view to recognise such teachers who have illustrious service but have not had the opportunity to perform academically in some particular years as they remained on authorised leave, the Haryana Government has decided to consider their latest effective and actual academic career for five or ten years, as applicable under the State Awards for 2017.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the School Education Department said that as per the eligibility conditions for the awards, Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) for the last ten years would be considered. For being eligible for consideration for the award, a teacher must have ‘PlusA’ (+A) grading in ACRs for five years out of last 10 years. No teacher below ‘A’ grading in any year would be considered for the award. Besides, in case of teachers teaching Board classes, the Board Class results of Classes X and X plus two must have been above the State average.

However, it had been noted that some teachers get devoid of opportunity to perform academically in some particular years while they remained on authorised leave, including medical, maternity or child care leave. These teachers are otherwise seen to be having very illustrious service record, which qualifies them for consideration of conferment of a State Award.

The State Government has now clarified that 10 years or five years, where so applicable, would mean to be the latest those years during which a teacher was afforded opportunity to perform academically and thereby entitled to a valid APAR or Board results. Therefore, for consideration of awards for 2017, the latest actual service of the teachers would be considered and the authorised void years would be filled by corresponding equal latest adjoining back years.
