ATHAWALE URGED DALIT SAMAJ TO UNFOLLOW BABAISM, RATHER ABIDE BY THE PATHS OF BABA BR AMBEDKAR

Ministry to soon initiate a campaign against fake babas

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale today while briefing the ‘Meet the Press” at Chandigarh Press Club appealed the Dalit Samaj not to follow Babas like Gurmeet Ram Rahim which are leading nation to a destructive path, but to abide by country’s all time favourite ‘Baba’ Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He expressed his resentment over the entire episode said a major chunk of dalit samaj was following the sect with a pious intention. Since the inception, the sect provided a platform for suppressed class and to narrow the gap between both communities in a good cause but court findings has brought not only the society but nation to the shame. He said Govt will soon starting a nationwide campaign against fake babas.

“I have been proposed many times by my party (Republican Party of India) workers to visit Dera at Sirsa. But It was my personal choice to keep away from such Babas” said Athalwe who is also a former journalist and actor in Marathi TV world. He also supports the stand of both – Punjab and Haryana Govts for not compensating those dalits who were died during creating violence on August 25, 2017 in Panchkula.

While elaborating his visit to Chandigarh, Athawale said he met Haryana’s Welfare SC & BC Minister Krishan Bedi and brief upon the developments on compensating the dalit victims of Mirchpur (Hisar) whose village was put on fire leading continues tension and insecurity to dalits. He said they are compensated well and relocating to nearby three villages. During the discussion with Vij, he also stressed upon the Jat class which is looking forward for reservation will be given only on the basis on economic background.

Athawale said the major reason of atrocities on dalits is casteism. Govt of India aligned with its philopshy of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ also advocates for the rights of Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Classes. Modi regime has provided the constitutional status to OBC Commission and also brought amendment in the 1989 atrocities act to improve the plight of OBC. He also informed that handicapped candidate reservation in Govt services has increased from three percent to four percent.

He also felt the need of constituting the SC Commission for UTs on the ground of States. He assured that his ministry will soon take up to the matter to Prime Minister for forming a SC Commission in Chandigarh also.
