"The youth are the future of Punjab and I salute them for their unbounded energy and exuberance which must be channelized in a proper way to help them rise in life as well as carve out a niche for themselves and bring glory to the country."

Pouring his heart out during an interactive session "SAMVAAD" organized by the Students Welfare Society at Panjab University, Chandigarh, the Local Government, Tourism & Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu that the youth should shed the fear of failure as it is the biggest impediment to success and instead should focus on inculcating self belief which is a sure shot way to success.

 Urging the youth to admire but not imitate anybody, the minister said that every person carries a special talent/quality which needs to be harnessed appropriately to rise higher in life. Laying emphasis on the importance of education, the minister said that education is what makes a person self dependent and if the aspect of skill training is added to it then it can work wonders for the youth.

Exhorting the students not to be cowed down by the adverse circumstances in life, Mr. Sidhu said that the real champion is the one who fights adversity and challenges head on and emerges a winner. He also said that the character is not made but exhibited in a crisis.

Stressing the importance of hardwork, Mr. Sidhu said that the youth should always keep in mind that there are no shortcuts to success and it is only hardwork which pays in the end. He regaled the student audience with the inspiring anecdotes from his cricketing life besides illustrating examples from the lives of Sachin Tendulkar, Kris Srikkanth, Ravi Shastri. Going further, Mr. Sidhu told the audience it was his strong will power to succeed and belief in himself that saw him succeed against the likes of Wasim Akram, Imran Khan, Waqar Younis and the West Indian pace battery.

On the occasion, the minister also participated in a question and answer session giving patient replies to the various queries put forward by the university.
