CFA CHANDIGARH, CSF ACADEMY, MINEREVA FA, IMPHAL FC IN SEMIS

Hosts Chandigarh Football Academy blanked Kuljeet Football Academy by 5-in the first quarter-final of the 15th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament at the Sector 42 Football Ground here today. Both teams played in a contrasting style.

The Chandigarh lads played the game throughout with small passes whereas the Amritsar lads were using long high passes. Both the teams were locked at 0-0 till the half time. On resumption the Chandigarh lads took the control over the pace of the game and started raiding the defence line of Amritsar through wings. In the 49th minute of the play, the Chandigarh lads initiated a move from the left flank. Shabby Khan sent a pass to medio Lovepreet who shot at Kuljeet Academy’s goal but the alert goalkeeper Sayiam Suleman averted the attempt.

A corner was awarded in favour of C.F.A. which they converted. After scoring the goal C.F.A. lads came up in a whirlwind fashion and pumped four more goals to seal the fate of Kuljeet Academy. Napolean scored second goal for Chandigarh in the 57th minute of the play. After conceding two goals Amritsar lads left all the hopes and were indulged in rough play. Thereafter Karandeep scored third goal for Chandigarh the 60th minute of the play. Fourth and fifth goal for C.F.A. were scored by S. Nang Poilnganba and Gobind Das in 78th and 86th minutes, respectively. Rajveer and Sajan Masih of Kuljeet Academy were expelled by the referee for indulging in ungentleman conduct. Their Paramjeet Singh and Jashanpreet Singh were also booked for the same reason. Balraj of C.F.A. was also booked for pushing the opponent.

In the second quarter final played at Sector 7 Sports Complex Cordia Southhall Football Academy, Fatehgarh Sahib edged past Dalbir football Academy Patiala by 5-3. Both the teams were locked at 1-1 at the long whistle. Thereafter 15 minutes extra time in two equal halves was given but none was able to score. To break the deadlock, penalty shootouts were conducted where Cordia Southall lads proved to be better shooters. During the stipulated time M. Asif Khan scored the goal for C.F.A. whereas Sat Pal Singh scored for Dalbir in 54th minute of the play. During the kicks from penalty mark Ravi, Onkar, M. Asif Khan and Mandip Kumar converted for Cordia Southall Football Academy .

Saganpreet, Rajveer and Ravinder Kundu converted for Dalbir Football Academy. Gurpinder Singh of C.F.A. Fatehgarh was cautioned by the referee and was shown yellow card. In the third quarter final played at Sector 42 Sports Complex, Imphal City Football Club Manipur beat Baichung Bhutia Football School by 2-1. All three goals were scored in second half of the play. Naoba and Rouf scored and goal each for Imphal city where as Mukesh scored one goal for Baichung Bhutia Football School Club. In the last match played between Haryana Football Club and Minerva Football academy at Sector 7 Sports Complex, Minerva Football Academy defeated Haryana Football Club by 3-1.

Both the teams were equally balanced, neck to neck contest was evident throughout the match. However Minerva Academy overpowered Haryana. Ajio scored two goals and Vikram scored one goal to help Minerva sail into semi-finals. Raj Kishore scored the goal for Haryana, Sailo and Vikram of Minerva were cautioned by the referee and shown yellow cards. Chandigarh Football Academy vs Imphal Football Club -- Sector 7 Sports Complex (2 p,.m)
