THREE YEARS IMPRISONMENT TO TWO BANK MANAGERS OF SBM, THREE OTHERS FOR CHEATING BANK TWO CRORE

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Bhopal has sentenced Sh. A. S. Hegde, then Branch Manager & Sh. Ravindra Kumar, then Assistant Manager, both working in State Bank of Mysore, Bhopal to undergo 03 years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 1.30 lakh; Sh. Ravi Sahu, Proprietor of M/s. Tanu Shree Homes to undergo 03 years RI with fine of Rs. 1.20 lakh; Sh. Raj Kumar Rai (Private Person) to undergo 03 years RI with fine of Rs. 1.20 lakh and Sh. Ramesh Chandra Dubey (Private Person) to undergo 03 years RI with fine of Rs. one lakh.
CBI had registered a Case U/s 120-B r/w 420 of IPC and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 on 02.08.2011, on a complaint from State Bank of Mysore, HO, Bangalore against Shri A.S. Hegde, then Branch Manager, State Bank of Mysore, Bhopal; Shri Ravinder Kumar, then Assistant Manager, State Bank of Mysore, Bhopal and others on the allegations that Shri A.S. Hegde and Shri Ravinder Kumar sanctioned & disbursed 21 housing loans in the name of various borrowers from 2006 to 2009. These borrowers brought in by Shri Ravi Sahu, Propriator of M/s Tanu Shree Homes (Builder) had not taken up constructions. Thus, the builder had cheated the Bank to the tune of Rs. 200.40 lakh (approx).

After completion of investigation, seven chargesheets were filed in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal on 27.12.2012. The chargesheet of present case was filed against Shri A.S. Hegde, then Branch Manager; Shri Ravinder Kumar, then Assistant Manager, State Bank of Mysore, Bhopal; Shri Ravi Sahu, Proprietor of M/s Tanu Shree Homes; Shri Raj Kumar Rai, resident of Silwani, Distt. Raisen and Shri Ramesh Chandra Dubey, resident of Karond, Bhopal. The Trial court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
