BSF OBSERVED ' RAJA MOHTAM MARTYER'S DAY' TO COMMEMORATE OF ASSTT. COMMANDAND AND 8 BORDER MEN

To commemorate the unmatched gallant strife of Sh. RK Wadhwa, Assistant Commandant and 08 brave bordermen of 31 Battalion Border Security Force “RAJA MOHTAM MARTYR’S DAY” was celebrated on Monday  by 118 Battalion Border Security Force.

On the occasion, Shri Madhu Sudan Sharma, DIG, BSF, Sector HQrs Abohar was the Chief Guest. Officers under sector Abohar and other dignitaries of local area attended the programme.

During 1971 Indo-Pak war, on 05 th Dec 1971, 9th Baloch Regt. of Pakistan Army captured BOP Raja Mohtam. Sh RK Wadhwa, Assistant Commandant was given the responsibility to re-capture the BOP Raja Mohtam. Accordingly, on 07th Dec 1971, Sh. RK Wadhwa, Assistant Commandant gallantly led his platoon of brave bordermen through heavily mined area under intense and accurate enemy fire and captured BOP Raja Mohtam.

RK Wadhwa, Assistant Commandant gallantly led his platoon of brave bordermen through heavily mined area under intense and accurate enemy fire and captured BOP Raja Mohtam.

Later, Pakistan Army strived hard and launched counter attacks to re-capture the BOP Raja Mohtam, but Sh R K Wadhwa and his brave companion bordermen repulse the counter attacks successfully. In the process, on 11th Dec 1971, Pakistan Army furiously bombed the BOP Raja Mohtam and due to mortal wounds, Sh RK Wadhwa, Assistant Commandant along with 08 brave bordermen made the supreme sacrifice in the service of Nation and attained martyrdom.

Nation will remain indebted to all these brave bordemen. Shri RK Wadhwa, Assistant Commandant was conferred with Maha Veer Chakra (Posthumously) and Sub Inspector Iqbal Singh, Const Ram Singh were honored with Sena Medal (Posthumously). A programme “Ek Raat Shaheedo Ke Naam” was also organized at 118 Battalion Headquarter, Jalalabad (West) in Fazilka District.
