GUARDIANS OF GOVERNANCE WILL BE EYES AND EARS OF GOVERNMENT, LT GE (RETD) T S SHERGILL

In order to run the different schemes of Punjab government smoothly and to ensure that people at grass root level are aware of it, under Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Scheme the Punjab government has launched Guardians of Governance (GoG) scheme roping in the ex-servicemen in villages and cities to keep an eye on the ongoing developmental works and coordinate with government over the same.

  The Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab and Senior Vice Chairman Guardians of Governance (GoG) Retd Let Gen T S Shergill said this while addressing GoGs at SDM office Talwandi Sabo today. The GoG Vice Chairman Major Gen SPS Grewal and SDM Mr Varinder Singh were also present. 

He added that there are 74 Guardians of Governance appointed in district Bathinda. Working at the tehsil level, these ex servicemen will serve without any bias ensuring that the government schemes are implemented completely in most transparent manner. They will also ensure that the facilities reach the common man. 

He stated that every guardian will choose 10 people of which 5 will be youngsters and 5 will be women. They will educate these 10 people about various facilities of center and state government. Each of these 10 people will further choose 10 people and educate them creating a will knit chain of informed people. 

Earlier, Mr Shergill was given guard of honor on his arrival to the district. 

The vice chairman of GoG Maj Gen SPS Grewal said that the guardians will ensure that all kinds of benefits reach people and will work hand in hand with the district administration. He also told the Guardians of Governance about various facilities available at Sewa Kendras. 

SDM Talwandi Sabo Mr Varinder Singh welcomed everybody and assured that all kind of help and coordination will be extended to the GoGs. 

President nagar council Talwandi Sabo Mr Gurmeet Singh Manshahia, sarpanches of various villages, Guardians of Governance, SP traffic Mr Gurmeet Singh, DSP Talwandi Sabo Mr Varinder Singh Gill and heads of various departments were also present.
