CBI ARRESTS BRANCH MANAGER OF THE NEW INDIA ASSURANCE COMPANY IN A BRIBERY CASE, REMANDED TO POLICE CUSTODY

The Central Bureau of Investigation (cbi) has arrested a Branch Manager of New Indian Assurance Company Ltd., Sivasagar (Assam) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against the accused on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs. 16,900/- from the complainant for releasing the insurance claims settlement amount. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed at his office while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant.

Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of accused at Jorhat (Assam) which led to recovery of certain incriminating documents.

The accused was produced before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Guwahati and remanded to Judicial Custody.
