Ms. Bhawna Garg, IAS,(Pb :1999) has joined as the Deputy Director General (DDG) in the Chandigarh Regional Office of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology vice Mr Ram Subhag Singh, IAS,(HP :1987) who has been repatriated to his parent State of Himachal Pradesh.

Ms. Garg was earlier serving as Secretary, Employment Generation &Training, Technical Education and Industrial Training with Government of Punjab. The Chandigarh Regional Office of UIDAI has been assigned to enroll and issue Aadhaar to residents of Himachal Pradesh , Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Jammu & Kashmir .

Spelling out her future plans , Ms Garg , said his focus would now be to enroll the left-out below adult population(<18 years), especially in age category 0-5 years . Aadhaar saturation for age category 0-5 years in states where UIDAI, Regional Office - Chandigarh is enrolling residents is 61.9% with 42,04,441 children having Aadhaar. Estimated Population, as per 2017, for age category 0-5 years in states where UIDAI RO- Chandigarh is enrolling and issuing Aadhaar to residents is 67,29,564.

Ms Garg also emphasised that her focus would also be on ensuring Aadhaar enrolment gets underway in all the identified Banks and Post Offices in the states covered by RO Chandigarh .
