A case has been registered against 10-15 unidentified persons for roughing up few policemen during AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira’s visit yesterday under sections 353, 186, 332, 149 (Case number 45 dated 15.05.2018). However, the police has failed to arrest any person even after 24 hours of the incident despite having all the recording of the incident available.

Meanwhile, the members of Border Sangharsh Committee today lifted their dharna after getting notice from the police administration. However, the other farmer union led by Bhartiya Kisan Union Ekta (Sidhupra) refused to lift their dharna in support of two elderly ladies who have been sitting on hunger strike demanding action against the people owing allegiance to land mafia whom they alleged were trying to usurp their 26 acres land in Village Jhoke Harihar.

Bogh Singh, State General Secretary, BKU Ekta (Sidhupur) said that their protest will continue till these two women get justice. “We are ready to go to jail and when we will be sent to jail other people (farmers) will continue this protest”, said Bogh Singh.

Things had taken an ugly turn yesterday when AAP leader Khaira had refused to meet the members of Border Sangharsh Committee following which the protestors blocked his way and also roughed up some policemen who were trying to intervene.
