GOVT. SANCTIONED 140 CRORES FOR DEVELOPMENT OF PANCHKULA RAILWAY STATION TO PROVIDE FACILITY TO PASSENGERS

Extensive facilities for passengers costing Rs 140 crore would be provided at Panchkula railway station. Tenders for these would be opened on May 30, 2018, and work on creating them would begin by August.

This assurance was given by Mr Sudip Bandyopadhyay, head of a team of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways which visited Panchkula-Chandigarh railway station, today. Mr Bandyopadhyay is also chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee.

The assurance came in response to the demands made before the committee by Mr Rattan Lal Kataria, Ambala MP, and Mr Gian Chand Gupta, MLA, Panchkula, for creating extensive facilities at Panchkula station.
Mr Kataria also raised the issue of Chandigarh-Baddi and Yamunanagar-Chandigarh railway lines and development of Ambala as world class railway station.

Mr Gupta raised the demand in writing for Metro project in the Tricity and proper connectivity from Panchkula, more reservation centres at Panchkula railway station, construction of a waiting hall, more parking area, escalator facility, arrangement for commercial activities, proper light arrangement and signboards on platform no 6 and construction of RoB in Sector-19.
