PUNJAB POLICE AND BSF IN A JOINT OPERATION SEIZED HEROIN WORTH RS.65 CRORES

Punjab Police Anti Narcotics Cell (ATc) and Border Security Force (BSF) in a joint operastion reported to have recovered 12.7 KG.contraband heroin valuing Rs.65 crores in international market from Abohar Sector on Friday.The seizure recovered from area near indo pak border near fencing in Abohar Sectror.

Mr. Gurinder Singh Dhillon IG (Ferozepur Range) said that a drug peddler identified as Jiwan Singh son of Bahal Singh, a resident of Village Gajni Wala (Dona Mathar) was nabbed by the sleuths belonging to Anti Narcotics Cell who was involved in cross border drug peddling and had relations with the smugglers across the border in Pakistan. The Anti Narcotics sleuths also recovered a mobile phone with Pakistani SIM from him. In this regard, a case No 61 dated 01/06/2018 under NDPS Act was registered against the accused Jiwan Singh.

The IG said that later based on the information provided by Jiwan Singh, a joint operation was planned with BSF officials belonging to 118 Battalion during which recovery of 13 packets of heroin weighing 12.7 Kg worth Rs. 65 Crore in the international market was recovered from his fields near border pillar number 214/5/6. IG said that more recoveries were likely to be made based on further information gathered by the police.
