FAMILY MEMBERS OF PERSONS WHO WERE ASPHYXIATED STAGED PROTEST, DEMAND GOVERNMENT JOB

Enraged over the death of three persons who were asphyxiated while cleaning the manhole on the premises of Police lines yesterday, the family members of the deceased along with members of All India Valmiki Youth Sangh (AIVYS) today held a protest outside the police line.

Rajinder Kumar, Gaurav, Arun Sangheria, Harish, Ratanlal, members of All India Valmiki Youth Sangh demanded government job for next of the kin of the deceased. “We also want an enquiry that who sent them inside the manhole without any preventive gear. Now we want to know who will take the responsibility of these deaths”, said enraged AIVYS.

The Ferozepur-Fazilka GT road, where the Police line is situated was blocked for few hours due to which the passengers had to bear the brunt.

Later Pritam Singh, SSP reached the spot and pacified the protestors. The SSP ensured every possible help to the family members of the victim.

It is pertinent to mention here that three persons identified as Ravi Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Lachhman, a Sepoy of Punjab police had died following asphyxiation besides the fourth persons lost consciousness while they were clearing the manhole on the premises of Police lines. The third person Balbir was admitted in the civil hospital from where he was referred to Government Medical College Faridkot.

The bodies of Krishan Kumar, Ravi and Lachhman were handed over their families after postmortem.
