CBI COURT SENTENCED 3 YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT , FINE OF ONE LAKH TO THEN AIG OF PUNJAB POLICE IN BRIBERY CASE

Chandigarh (Face2News) The Special Judge, CBI Cases, UT, Chandigarh has sentenced Sh. P.S.Sandhu, then AIG (IVC), Punjab Police Headquarters, Chandigarh to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. one lakh in a bribery case on Saturday.. CBI had registered the case on 12.07.2011 U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against Sh. P.S. Sandhu, AIG (IVC), Punjab Police HQ, Chandigarh on a complaint. It was alleged that the accused had demanded Rs. three lakh as illegal gratification from the complainant for showing favour in enquiry relating to various cases registered against him in different places in Punjab. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000/- as Ist installment. After investigation, chargesheet was filed on 30.05.2012 in the court of Special Judge, CBI, UT, Chandigarh. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him. Later accused gets bail from the court for appeal to higher court.
