Ferozepore (Vikramaditya Sharma)

A sepoy belonging to Ferozepur has posted a video on his facebook wall demanding immediate arrest of the accused who allegedly murdered his maternal grandmother last month. The sepoy identified as Vineet has asked Prime Minister Narender Modi through this video that when a person serving for his country will not get justice, then who will?

As per information available Vineet’s maternal grandmother Janki Devi (60) was allegedly beaten by some persons on September 22nd when she had gone to market with Vineet. It is pertinent to mention here that Vineet had come to Ferozepur on vacations from September 13 to September 26 from Ranchi.

His maternal grandmother was admitted in Government Medical College at Faridkot but was declared brought dead by the doctors. “Later an FIR under sections 302, 341, 148, 149 IPC (Case Dated 22.09.2018) was also lodged at Cantonment police station in which two persons by name identified as Aman son of Bikhu Ram, resident of Cantonment area and Kirandeep Singh alias Bikkar son of Major Singh, resident of Village Khanpur besides -6 unidentified were booked by the police. But the fact is that police willingly did not mention the names of the other accused in the FIR. Even those whose names were mentioned in the FIR were also not arrested by the police and now our family was being pressurized for compromise by some influential people. We met the SSP, the Army Welfare officer but no justice has been given to us till now”, said Indu Bala, mother of Vineet.

Puneet Kumar, younger brother of sepoy Vineet said that the dispute started in the month of January when few of these accused attacked over a minor issue at their residence. “At that time also we had informed police but nothing was done as few of these persons enjoy close proximity with the influential persons of the region”, said Puneet Kumar.

The family members including Anthony, father of Vineet, his sister Tania alleged that the police is also putting pressure on their family.
