*‘PR SUMMIT’ SEEKS TO EXPLORE SIGNIFICANCE OF NEW TRENDS IN TECH ADVANCEMENTS, SENU DUGGAL BESTOWED BEST PR PERSON AWARD*JAYANTH NARAYAN PETHKAR OF PU BEST PR TEACHER*PRSI CHANDIGARH CHAPTER HAS ALSO RELEASED A SOUVENIR AND HONOURED SAMEER PAL SROW.

 

In a bid to promote new trends of public relations among the PR fraternity, Chandigarh Chapter of Public Relations Society of India organized a PR Summit-2019 on the theme of ‘New Trends in PR’ here today where Director General Information and Public Relations & Languages department, Haryana, Sameer Pal Srow was the chief guest.

Addressing the participants Sameer Pal Srow stated that despite the technological advancements in communication and social media field, nobody can dispense with traditional media. “In this modern tech era, new trends in communicationhave made deep impact on the society and facilitated to disseminate instant information. Besides this, the advent of new inventions and technologies PR professionals has also adopted new skills and competence to survive in the present era”, he added.

Expressing his satisfaction for hosting such meaningful PR Summit focused on new trends in PR,DG PR Haryana offered the PRSI Chandigarh Chapter to organize next summit on the behalf of Haryana. He revealed that content creation, reputation management and crisis management skills are the vital pillars of PR and survival of PR practitioners greatly depends on the instinct of PR skills. He acknowledged the importance of PR in crisis management as well as in the day-to-day affairs. He said that with the advent of digital communication and social media, PR has undergone a sea change.

During the summit, ‘Best PR person’ award was conferred to Additional DPR Punjab, Dr Senu Duggal, ‘Best PR teacher’ award bestowed to Prof. Jayanth Narayan Pethkar Department of Mass Communication, Panjab University, Chandigarh and ‘Best PR agency’ award was conferred to Quik Relations Pvt Ltd. On this occasion, PRSI Chandigarh chapter has also released a souvenir and honoured Sameer Pal Srow.

During the PR Summit experts from various walks of life discussed the core issues related to the theme such as artificial intelligence, social media platforms and new advancements in PR field. Delivering his keynote address former DPR Himachal Pradesh BD Sharma said compared with the mode of communication and PR tools in the past, now information goes to millionswith just click of button.He cautioned the PR practitioners to remain vigilant to safeguard the image of organizations.He informed that PR is expected to emerge as a Rs. 2100 crore economy with about 2 lakh jobs by 2020

While addressing the PR professionals, the Chairman of PRSI Chandigarh Chapter Harjeet Singh Grewal said artificial intelligence would change the whole functioning of PR in the days to come. “All activities on the net being shared on real time basis by the social media platforms and in the next decade functioning in the field of PR would be revolutionized completely. Suggesting to use new technology judiciously for getting its full benefits he also reminded the harmful effects of new advents.

During the technical session PK. Khurana suggested that those PR professionals who would not embrace data tools and artificial intelligence would lead to consume more time and eventually left behind in the PR society. During deliberation, Senior Editor News 18, Ritesh Lakhi suggested that it is much better to regulate information instead of curtailing it and credibility is essential to survive in the field of PR.Head of Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Punjabi University, Patiala Dr Happy Jeji and former vice president North PRSI VP Sharma also presented their papers on the subject. Vice Chairman PRSI Chandigarh Chapter RK Kaplash presented vote of thanks.
