HARPREET SINGH BRAR ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF BAR COUNCIL OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA

Mr. Harpreet Singh Brar (Rajan) Former President of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association and Former Honorary Secretary of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, today declared elected as the Chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana in an election held for the post of Chairman after the declaration of result of the members of the Bar Council in the official gazette on 1.2.2019.  Sh. Gurtej Singh Grewal, who remained President of the DBA, Sangrur for record seven times has been declared elected as Vice Chairman.

The Bar Council has recently elected Sh. Partap Singh as member of Bar Council of India, whereas, Mr. Suvir Sidhu has been nominated as the youngest Honorary Secretary of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana.  Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu, Senior Advocate and President of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association and Sh. Baldev Raj Mahajan Advocate General, Haryana congratulated the newly elected office bearers.  

 Out of 25 elected members, 18 members voted in favour of Sh. Harpreet Singh Brar (Rajan) who defeated Sh. Hargobinder Singh who got 7 votes for the post of Chairman and Sh. Ranvir Singh Dhaka was defeated by Sh. Gurtej Singh Grewal who secured 7 votes only for the post of Vice Chairman.

The Election was conducted by the Advocate General, Haryana Sh. Baldev Raj Mahajan, Sr. Advocate who acted as Returning Officer as per the provisions of Advocate’s Act and the Bar Council of India Rules.
