The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued instructions to candidates contesting Parliamentary Elections 2019 to submit one extra recent stamp size photograph, in addition to one submitted by them alongwith nomination form, for printing on the ballot paper.

Divulging this here today, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Mr. S. Karuna Raju said that earlier candidates were required to sumbit one stamp size photo to be printed on the ballot paper. However, subsequently the nomination form was amended and a box was provided in the nomination form itself where candidates were asked to affix their photo.

The Commission had considered the matter in the light of the subsequent amendments in nomination form, the CEO said adding that it had been decided that henceforth, the candidates shall be asked to submit an additional photograph along with the photograph affixed on the nomination paper.

The two photographs should be identical and should be as per the specifications given in the Commission's direction.

Further, it is also directed that if a candidate does not submit additional copy of photograph for printing on the ballot paper, the photograph already affixed on the nomination paper shall be used for printing on the ballot paper.
