HARYANA POLICE SEIZED BIG HAUL OF CONTRABAND FROM DRUG MAFIA

In a move to ensure peaceful environment during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, the Haryana Police has so far seized a total of 2,35,515 bottles of illicit liquor and over 1,983 kg 709 gram narcotic substances including heroin, opium, poppy husk, ganja, smack and charas.

Giving this information here today, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Mr. Navdeep Singh Virk said that based on the intelligence inputs, Police has so far seized 1,40,290 bottles of country made liquor, 64,867 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), 18,566 bottles of beer and 11,792 bottles of illicit liquor.

 It also seized 898 kilo 980 gram ganja, 657 kilo 660 gram poppy husk, 1710 gram 409 miligram herion, 13 kilo 949 gram 860 miligram opium, 302 gram 510 miligram smack, 7 kilo 691 gram 400 miligram charas, 1 kilo 815 gram sulfa, 384 kilo 600 gram green opium and 17 kilo cocaine doda.

Mr Virk said that in addition to cash worth Rs 76,17,370, police teams also seized counterfeit currency with the face value of Rs 11,700 since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. Apart from this, Police has also recovered 1,000 kg lahan, 1,200 intoxicant capsules, 16,584 banned tablets and 18 bottles of syrup. As many as 356 FIRs related to seizure of above items had been lodged across the state, he added.

The ADGP said that our teams are continuing operations against illegal liquor, narcotics, cash, illegal weapons and any other activity that can hamper and disrupt the polling process. In order to maintain law and order in the state, 73,096 licensed arms have so far been deposited by the people in Police Stations across Haryana.

He urged the people to enthusiastically participate in the upcoming festival of democracy and exercise their right to cast vote without any fear as the Haryana Police has made elaborate arrangements for free, fair and peaceful conduct of general elections, polling for which will be held in the State on May 12, 2019.
