HARSIMRAT KAUR BADAL INAUGURATES RENOVATED RAILWAY STATION AT SULTANPUR LODHI

Union Minister of Food Processing, Smt Harsimrat Kaur Badal today inaugurated renovated Railway Station at Sultanpur Lodhi to facilitate lakhs of pilgrims who are visiting the Holy town of Sultanpur Lodhi to pay their obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib Ji on the occasion of 550th Prakash Purab (Birth Anniversary) of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

She said that to commemorate this holy event, Government of India through Ministry of Railways has decided to build this marvelous piece showcasing modern Sikh architecture befitting to the stature and occasion of 550th Prakash Purab celebrations of the Great Guru. 

Ministry of Railways  compled the renovation work of the railway station within a short span. It has been upgraded for the comfort and convenience of passengers. Railway Station has been upgraded with the provision of two high level platforms with all passenger amenities, 2 foot over Bridge and circulating area on either side for easy movement of passengers. More than 50 lakh pilgrims are expected to visit during the celebrations.   

  Congratulating the Ministry of Railways for completing the renovation work of the railway station within a short span, she said it has been upgraded for the comfort and convenience of passengers. Railway Station has been upgraded with the provision of two high level platforms with all passenger amenities, two foot over Bridge and circulating area on either side for easy movement of passengers. Smt Badal said more than 50 lakh pilgrims are expected to visit during the celebrations. The Minister also inaugurated an exhibition and short film on Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji – ‘Dhan Dhan Baba Nanak’ and watched the film.   

She said the Central government has made all out efforts to open Kartarpur Corridor being inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on 09 November and is making Sultanpur Lodhi a Smart City. It is from this holy place, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji spread the message of “Ik Onkar”. She thanked the Prime Minister for taking many historic decisions to increase and enhance the honour of Sikh Community.   

She appealed to all to visit this Holy town where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji meditated for many years and got enlightenment. She said the day is being celebrated in many countries across the world.   

Smt. Badal also flagged off re-decorated DMU rake with the message of equality and brotherhood as a tribute to the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and released a book ‘The Eternal Truth’, published by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGMCA), Ministry of Culture, Government of India.   

The minister praised the architecture of a huge passenger hall named ‘Guru Kirat Bhawan’. The magnificent façade depicting 13 arches located on either side of central dome which ardently symbolizes 13:13 (Tera-Tera). The symbolic No. 13 (Tera) as we know is related to the life event of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji giving message of “All is yours”.  The proportion and detailing of arches reflects Sikh shrine architecture which is rising towards centre, portraying the idea of work hard and surrender to Almighty manifesting spiritualism in the overall form of building.
