As per the call given by PFUCTO, all teachers as members of Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA), as a mark of protest against the non-implementation of 7th Pay Commission and callous attitude of the Punjab Government, will wear Black Badges tomorrow, i.e. 4th December 2019. Almost all the States have already have either implemented or are in the process of issuing the notification of the new pay scales for University and College teachers, as already notified by the UGC/MHRD.

Representatives of PUTA, Panjab University, Chandigarh, met the Vice Chancellor, PU, today, to enquire about the action taken by his office regarding the meetings of Selection Committees for promotions of teachers under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), which were cancelled at the last minute in September.

Vice Chancellor has assured us that he would hold these meetings/interviews positively in the month of December. In case, these Selection Committees are not held as assured by Vice Chancellor, PUTA will launch an agitation against the University authorities for leaving the concerned teachers in the lurch. PUTA is committed to the cause of teachers and shall not let the authorities cause unnecessary harassment to teachers, who deserve to be treated with greater respect and dignity. This was stated by Rajesh Gill and J.K.Goswamy President and General Secretary of PUTA.
