Abohar/Ahmadabad: Even when BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha had decided to make the five-day Vachanamrut Bicentenary Celebrations a low key affair due to COVID-2019 pandemic and told about 1 lakh devotees in India and abroad to cancel their proposed visit, hundreds of people from the neighbouring regions thronged Gadhada to express their devotion.

The Vachanamrut is the foremost scripture of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya and contains Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s spiritual discourses compiled by four of his eminent paramhansas. The first discourse in the Vachanamrut is dated 21 November 1819. So, to commemorate the bicentenary of the commencement of the Vachanamrut, over the past 18 months, devotees of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha throughout the world had undertaken special devotional observances.

As a grand finale to the celebrations, five days of festivities were held in Gadhada, the small town which served as Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s base for over 25 years.
Among the events that took place were: a vast Swaminarayan Nagar featuring four excellent exhibitions that inspired people to lead addiction-free, harmonious and spiritually centric life through specially produced video films. Divya Sankalp Gatha (Story of a Divine Wish) – a projection mapping show that together with live dances, skits and music narrated the history of Gadhada mandir.
