Her father Gurjit Singh Sandhu, a govt school teacher, was felicitated on the occasion.
The 2022 Asian Games, also known as XIX Asiad, will be a multi-sport event celebrated in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China from 10 to 25 September 2022. Hangzhou will be the third Chinese city to host the Asian Games, after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.
Principal Smita Sharma said that Simran, while studying in the school, took up archery in the Indian Round in 2012-13. She won the Gold Medal in the National Competitions of DAV Schools in 2013-14 and also secured the first position at the state games in the same year. After winning the national level, Simranjit Kaur returned from South Korea in 2015 with a silver medal. She participated in the Youth World Championship (Archery) held in 2015 in the US and in the Asia-Cup held in Bangkok in 2016.
Smita said that the achievement of Simranjit Kaur is a matter of pride not only for the school and the city but also for the entire Punjab.
Gurjit Singh Sandhu expressed his gratitude towards the school and coach Ravi Kumar and hoped that his daughter would bring laurels.
