ACCUSED WAS TRYING TO ESCAPE TO BANGLADESH, COVICTED FUGITIVE/PAROLE JUMPER ABSCONDING IN NDPS CASE ARRESTED FROM INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER WHILE TRYING TO CROSS THE BORDER TO EVADE ARREST, CONVICTED FOR 15 YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE, GRANTED EMERGENCY PAROLE UNDER HPC (COVID) GUIDLELINES DURING COVID PERIOD.

A team of ARSC has arrested a fugitive named Jafar Ali, 45 years, R/o Vill. Chander Kutti Dinhata, Distt- Cooch behar, West Bengal, convicted in a NDPS case of PS Crime Branch.
In the year of 2010, a team of Crime Branch had apprehended the accused Jafar Ali and his associates with 142 kg weed (Ganja) from Burari, Delhi. In this regard, a case FIR No. 132/2010, dated 08.09.2010, u/s 20/29 NDPS Act was registered in PS Crime Branch Delhi. During trial, the accused Jafar Ali was sentenced to 15 years rigorous imprisonment with fine by the Hon’ble Court, Delhi.
Mr.Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Crime, said, to nab the above-convicted parole jumper, HC Gaurav developed manual intelligence and mounted technical surveillance. A team led by Insp. Mangesh Tyagi and Insp. Robin Tyagi comprising of ASI Neeraj, HC Gaurav, HC Sawai, and HC Paramjeet under the close supervision of ACP Arvind Kumar was constituted by DCP Amit Goel and Joint CP S.D. Mishra.
In the year of 2020, accused Jafar Ali, 45 years, R/o Vill. Chander Kutti Dinhata, Distt- Coochbehar, West Bengal granted emergency parole, which was extended from time to time till 27.02.2021 and even after the expiry of his extended parole, he did not surrender and absconding since.

As per the given direction, the team reached at Sahebganj Dinhata Coochbehar, West Bengal to arrest the accused. After smelling presence of the police party, the accused fled from his native place to cross INDO-Bangladesh Border. Due to sincere efforts, dedication, and high level of professional competence of the raiding team, accused was traced and arrested from Kusherhat, Dinhata, West Bengal, situated 500 meters away from Indo- Bangladesh Border.
Accused Jafar Ali was born at village Chander kutti, Dinhata, District Coochbehar, West Bengal in the year 1978. He is uneducated. He was working as a laborer in the year 2009 but he was not satisfy with his work and earnings and planned to export weed (Ganja) from West Bengal to Delhi because weed is cultivated in his locality and is easily available and its illegal business is quite a profitable.
