COURT CONVICTS TWO OFFICIALS OF WESTERN COALFIELDS LIMITED, PRIVATE PERSON IN SEPARATE CASES FOR POSSESSING DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nagpur has sentenced Sh. Ajaz Hussain Siddiqui, then official of Western Coalfields Limited posted at Sillewara Sub Area, Nagpur to undergo six years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 22.95 Lakh and his wife Mrs. Sajiya Begum to undergo four years RI with fine of Rs. 4.50 Lakh. 

CBI had registered a case on 01.02.2005 against Sh. Ajaz Hussain Siddiqui, then Chute-man, AB Incline, Sillewara Sub Area, Western Coalfields Limited, Nagpur on the allegations that the accused had possessed huge assets, both movable & immovable either in his name or in the name of his family members. The Investigation revealed that Sh. Ajaz Hussain Siddiqui was in possession of assets to the tune of Rs.17,71,324/- in his name and in the name of his wife Smt. Sajia Begum, disproportionate to their known sources of income. 

After investigation, charge sheet was filed before the Special Judge, Nagpur on 30.11.2006 against both the accused. The Trial Court found both the accused guilty and convicted them. 

In another case, the Special Judge, Nagpur has sentenced Sh. Irshad Hussain Siddiqui, then Mechanic Fitter, WCL, Nagpur to undergo five years RI with fine of Rs. 13.65 Lakh.

CBI had registered a case on 30.11.2006 against Sh. Irshad Hussain Siddiqui, Mechanic Fitter, AB Incline, Sillewara Sub Area, Western Coalfields Limited, Nagpur on the allegations that during the period May, 1996 to February 2005, the accused was in possession of huge assets. The Investigation revealed that the accused was in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs.10,77,367/-. 

After investigation, charge sheet was filed before the Special Judge, Nagpur on 30.01.2008 against the accused. The Trial Court found the said accused guilty and convicted him.
