The Beopar Mandal has raised a demand to extend the daily superfast Delhi-Bathinda train up to Sriganganagar via Abohar. Mandal chief Suresh Satija has approached the Railway Board through MPs Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal claiming that by providing daily commuters the benefit of rail facility, Railways can get a huge increase in the revenue.
Satija said that train number 20409 starts from Delhi at 8 am and reaches Bathinda at 12.30 pm. After about 3.30-hour stoppage at Bathinda, the train number 20410 leaves Bathinda for Delhi at 3.55 pm to reach Delhi at 8.20 pm. He said that the train, which was started a few months ago, is getting sufficient passenger load between Delhi-Bathinda.(SUBHEAD)
It has General Sitting, Sleeper and AC coaches. There is no train service available on the Bathinda-Abohar-Sriganganagar route after 11:15 am. In such a situation, the passengers have to make a painful journey in buses from Bathinda to Sriganganagar. While the Delhi-Bathinda Superfast train remains standing at Bathinda from 12:30 pm to 3:55 pm.
He said that if this train is extended up to Sriganganagar, then on one hand the passengers between Sriganganagar and Bathinda will get the facility of a superfast train. On the other hand, there will be a huge increase in the revenue of the Railways. He has urged the Ministry of Railways to consider this demand soon and extend the superfast train up to Sriganganagar via Abohar.
