A deputation of the Jain Sabha met Deputy Commissioner cum Commissioner Municipal Corporation Dr. Senu Duggal and demanded closure of Slaughter Houses / Sale of Meat / Fish / Chicken / Sale of all types of non-Veg food/Alcohol on Bhagwan Mahavir Janam Kalyanak on 3rd & 4th April 2023.
(SUBHEAD)In a memorandum submitted to the DC, the organisation said that Bhagwan Mahavir Janam Kalyanak is falling on 3rd April 2023 whereas the Punjab Governmenthas declared holiday on 4th April 2023. Lord Mahavir, 24th Tirthankara of Jains was apostle of peace, non-violence, truth and universal brotherhood. It will be a befitting tribute to him and his principles, if the killing of innocent animals, birds, fish and serving &consumption of non-vegetarian food, alcohol be stopped on these pious days (like past years).
The deputation included Sabha president Ramesh Jain, secretary Manoj Jain, Nambardar Stinu Jain, Ashok Golchha, Harshvardhan Jain, Shanti Jain, Kranti Jain, Varun Jain, Puneet Jain, Vijay Golchha and Benny Golchha.
They requested the DC to issue the orders for closure of slaughter houses and sale of meatetc. on 3rd &4th April 2023 and widely publicise / enforce this on Mahavir Janam Kalyanak.
