Deputy Commissioner Fazilka and Commissioner of Abohar Municipal Corporation, Dr. Senu Duggal, in her first meeting with the media at the Town Hall here today, assured that despite the limited means of income, no stone will be left unturned to restore the aura of Abohar that was in the past called Abha Nagari.

She said that the financial liabilities of the Municipal Corporation were around Rs 50 crore and most of the income was spent on the salaries of the employees. The corporation has sent some proposals to the state government to increase the income, efforts will be made to get their approval soon. In order to increase the income, it is necessary that the residents of the city pay the property tax and other liabilities at the earliest to pave the way for speedy development.

(SUBHEAD)When the issue of traffic chaos was raised, she said that the cooperation of the police administration would be taken to free the main roads from temporary encroachments. It is also the moral duty of the residents of the city not to misuse footpaths etc. for commercial purposes. There will be no laxity by the administration in making its working system transparent and positive as per the policy of the state government. Solving public problems will be a priority.

When her attention was drawn to the fact that despite the ban on the sale and use of cobra wires, many people and animals in the wildlife sanctuary and other villages were injured due to illegal installation of cobra wires around the fields, but no action was taken, the DC said that she would find a solution by discussing this with the concerned authorities. She also assured to make the Safe Vehicle policy effective by tackling the school vehicles that reportedly discharge hazardous smoke. MC XEN DavinderJaura was also present in the media-meet.
