NGO Tammana organised a Legal Awareness Camp on Sunday, at Guru Nanak Colony, Industrial Area, Phase 7, Sector 73, Mohali,  for its residents.

(MOREPIC1)(MOREPIC2)Public Relation Executive Anubha Ohri shared that advocates including Adv Chetan Rai, Adv Sunny Piplani, Adv Dr Nareshaanand Bhardwaj, Adv Dr Navpreet Kaur, Adv Anna Bansal and Adv Gurshant Sukhija came forward to volunteer for the free camp to counsel the residents of the colony, an abodemostly to daily wagers and labourers.

(SUBHEAD)Member at the NGO & Event SPOC – Advocate Anna Bansal shared the advocates conducted separate sessions to spread awareness of various welfare schemes run by the Government of India for the deprived section of society. Legal Rights and Laws like the Right to Education, the Importance of Child Education, practices against the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act were also shared.

The Founder President Isha Kakaria said that ignorance of the law is no excuse. Knowledge of laws/ remedies of one's country enables a person to stand for herself/ himself and fight against injustice in society. Non-awareness among the marginalized sections not only results in denial of their fundamental rights but also due to the legal incomprehensiveness on their part they are not able to avail the benefits of the government welfare schemes and plans.

She quoted that the aim to organise this free legal awareness camp was to empower the disadvantaged sections of society to seek and demand justice services. Legal literacy helps the weaker section to stay aware & updated of their various legal & constitutional rights. Various sessions were followed by an interactive , question answer session w here all the queries of the residents were duly answered by the legal associates. This was done to guide & help the vulnerable who cannot afford to hire a lawyer to represent them in court, jury, or before an authority or merely answer their questions.

Apart from the same, the counsellors Yogita & Jaspreet sensitised children of the colony about the importance of maintaining good hygiene & also about Good touch- Bad touch.

Thereafter, healthy refreshments to all and no littering was duly taken care of by everyone.

NGO Tammana is a voluntary organisation & has been working consistently for more than 14 years for the upliftment of the deprived through their various social initiatives and willing to join can register at www.tamanna.org.in.
