MCM HOLDS WORKSHOP ON MILLETS

The Character Building Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club, Chandigarh Central, organised a workshop on millets titled 'A Date with Millets'. The main objective of the workshop was to initiate the students and faculty members into the use of millets and motivate them to shift towards a more nutritional alternative to wheat and rice.

The resource person Mrs. Poonam Pratibha Sharma, with her expertise and profound knowledge on the topic, highlighted the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle by adopting millets in one's daily meals. She approached the subject in a scientific manner and enlightened the audience about the different varieties of millets.

The session was followed by a demonstration of beverages and cookies made of millets, which were not only wholesome but also delicious. Ms. Poonam Pratibha exhibited the possible ways that can be undertaken at a personal level to shift from negative millets to positive millets.

(SUBHEAD)(MOREPIC1) As many as 60 participants benefitted from the workshop. The event was also graced by the members of the Inner Wheel Club– President Ms. Deepa Tangri, ISO Ms. Yashica Jain, Ms. Neelu Walia, Ms. Shweta Gupta, among others. Towards the end of the workshop, packets of bio-degradable sanitary napkins were distributed to the participants by the club.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava applauded the efforts of the Character Building Committee and the Inner Wheel Club in joining hands for a fruitful activity on millets. She asserted that food is one of the important components of holistic health and thus, we should be mindful of our dietary choices.
