PUNJAB'S SOCIAL HARMONY IMPREGNABLE UNDERLINES JAKHAR ADDING PREVAILING SENSE OF ANXIETY AND INSECURITY CANNOT BE INTERPRETED AS THREAT TO COMMUNAL HARMONY & AMITY

Cautioning the state AAP dispensation to guard against laxity and leniency towards elements inimical to Punjab's peace, former Member Parliament (MP) and BJP leader Sunil Jakhar on Monday underlined the state's communal harmony and amity was impregnable despite prevailing sense of insecurity and anxiety, which he said can not be interpreted as a threat to state's peace in any manner.

Punjab has suffered a lot already and no Punjabi would let anyone disturb the peace of our state at any cost, Jakhar said while urging the Bhagwant Mann government to realise its bounden responsibilty and attend to Punjab's issues and concerns and not leave the state at mercy of fate at the cost of garnering votes in Gujarat elections.(SUBHEAD)

Targetting the AAP regime for its irresponsible and inept administrative functioning, Jakhar said there is a genuine distrust amongst people in this government's ability to safeguard safety of its citizens and that is the reason behind prevailing sense of insecurity in Punjab.

“A Punjabi may belong to any faith but he or she is fiercely independent and proud of his religion and can never allow anyone to destroy the communal fabric of the state for political gains. Punjabis have not outsourced their religious autonomy to anyone and if any one claims to be the 'thekedar' of their religion, he must be disillusioned, Jakhar underlined.

Jakhar also said that was a need to reject all attempts at communalising the recent events aimed at stoking divisiveness and strife.

Punjab has always set high standards of communal brotherhood even in the most trying of circumstances, Jakhar said adding that Punjab lives and thrives with Guru's blessings and no force can ever be successful in vitiating our peaceful atmosphere.

Calling upon all sections of society to rise above parochial boundaries, the veteran Punjab leader said none would ever succeed to disturb our state's hard earned peace and amity.
