Prof Jagmohan Singh, nephew of Shaheed Bhagat Singh shall on October 4 at 11 am unveil the life-sized statue of the revolutionary martyr at the memorial that was developed on the old Tehsil Road here in 1969 by the Labour Council. The work of rejuvenation of the memorial has reached the final stage.

The renovation has been undertaken by the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Social Forum. Unlike other chowks that have recently been renovated under the Municipal Corporation’s project Kadam, no change has been made in the ground area of the memorial.

Convener Bharat Hiteshi and Project Incharge Praveen Chawla said that the work of renovation had reached the final stage, work of stone laying by skilled marble artisans from Dausa district of Rajasthan has now been started.

Similar quality stone was used to renovate the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. The steel grill installed to protect the floor will not be affected by sun or rain. Spectacular lighting will enhance the image of the square. The 6.6-feet tall man-sized statue of Bhagat Singh will be installed possibly this week-end. Construction work is being supervised by builder Naresh Khurana.
