The renovation work of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh memorial, founded 53 years ago by the Labour Council, is going on a war footing. Convener of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Samajik Manch Bharat Hiteshi has taken the initiative to rejuvenate this historical monument, while Manch's general secretary Naresh Gilhotra and project director Praveen Chawla are monitoring the work.
Chawla said that after the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam gotpartially damaged, he thought of its reconstruction and attracted the attention of people by making a message viral on social media. Panchkula based eminent social worker Bharat Hiteshi took the responsibility of revitalization of this memorial that was developed 53 years ago by the continuous efforts of his late father Mathura Dass Hiteshi, former councillor.
He said that after the renovation of this square, a 6.6-feet tall life-sized statue of Bhagat Singh would be installed here. The same was being prepared by the leading craftsmen of Jaipur. Along with this, special arrangements will be made for colourful lights and greenery to make the memorial more attractive. The square can become a center of attraction at night also. He said that in the construction of this memorial, guidance has been taken from patrons Raj Sadosh, RP Malhotra and Municipal Corporation Mayor Vimal Thatai.
Manch general secretary Naresh Gilhotra and joint-secretary Kulbhushan Hiteshi are involved in the project. The memorial under the guidance of the city's leading builder Naresh Khurana, will soon be finalised and dedicated to the city.
