AMIDST HIGH DRAMA, TWO ARRESTED WITH HEROIN

High voltage drama was witnessed yesterday afternoon in the city area following which the police arrested two drug peddlers after a “Car chase” and recovered 10 gram heroin from the accused.

While divulging details, Inspector Mohit Dhawan SHO city police station said that the police had laid a naka near Bansi Gate area in wake of Independence day. “We were checking the vehicles on routine basis near the naka when two youngsters who were in a Swift car (PB 04 Ad 8020), reached there. I signaled them to stop their car , opened the gate of the car and told the accused to come out. Suddenly they speed up the car and tried to fled away from the spot”, said SHO Mohit.(SUBHEAD)

The SHO said that the accused seemed to be panicked and tried to run over everything in order to save their lives. “To control the situation, I had to open fire on the front left of the car however the accused still managed to flee. The police nabbed the accused from Arif ke road around 10 kms away from the spot.

During the checking, police recovered 10 gram heroin from the accused identified as Rajbir Singh, resident of Basti Kiddanwali and Mann Singh, resident of Bagdadi gate. “Rajbir was driving the car while Mann Singh was on the conductor seat. The police has booked the accused under sections 307, 353, 186 279 and 21, 61, 85 NDPS Act (FIR No. 08.08.2022)”, SHO further added.
