Roundglass Hockey Academy delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Namdhari Academy 4-1 and lift the Fifth Kesadhari Gold Cup Hockey Tournament title at the Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
Roundglass began the final with high intensity, pressing aggressively and controlling possession from the outset. Their early dominance was rewarded when Sukhpreet Singh broke through the Namdhari defence in the 12th minute, slotting home a clean finish after a well-orchestrated build-up.
The pressure continued to mount, and Anurag Singh doubled the lead in the 20th minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse to put Roundglass firmly in command. Namdhari attempted to regroup and found a breakthrough of their own when Sehajpreet Singh converted in the 30th minute, momentarily shifting momentum.
However, Roundglass refused to let the goal disrupt their rhythm. The team responded with composure, reorganising quickly and regaining control of the midfield. Their structured play paid off again in the 38th minute, as Jarman Singh restored the two-goal advantage with a sharp finish following sustained pressure inside the circle.
In the final quarter, Roundglass showcased their superior fitness, depth, and tactical discipline. Sukhmanpreet Singh added the fourth in the 48th minute, finishing off a fast counterattack that highlighted the team’s speed and coordination. From that point onward, Roundglass maintained possession smartly, denying Namdhari any chances of a late comeback.
Across all four quarters, Roundglass demonstrated maturity beyond their age and executed their game plan with precision, both defensively and in transition. Their attack looked fluid, the midfield controlled tempo intelligently, and the defensive unit held firm whenever challenged.
