Minerva Academy FC has once again reaffirmed its dominance in Indian youth football by being crowned champions of the AIFF Sub-Junior League for the third consecutive year, completing a historic tally of four AIFF youth league titles across the Under-13 and Under-14 categories conducted by the AIFF. In yet another memorable campaign, Minerva Academy FC showcased exceptional quality, discipline, attacking football, and consistency throughout the tournament, ultimately lifting the prestigious trophy after a commanding 4-1 victory over Classic Football Academy in the grand finale.
The final proved to be a perfect reflection of Minerva Academy FC’s superiority throughout the competition as the defending champions started the match with tremendous intensity and confidence. Mukhtar opened the scoring in the 8th minute, giving Minerva an early advantage and setting the tone for the contest. The momentum continued firmly in Minerva’s favour when Nagais produced a brilliant strike in the 23rd minute to double the lead and put immense pressure on the opposition. Minerva Academy FC continued to dominate possession, dictate the tempo of the game, and create multiple attacking opportunities before extending their lead to 3-0 before halftime, effectively putting the result beyond doubt by the end of the first half.
In the second half, Classic Football Academy attempted a comeback, but Minerva Academy FC remained composed and disciplined defensively while continuing to threaten in attack. The defending champions once again displayed the maturity and winning mentality that has become synonymous with the club over the years. Lanchemba added the final touch to an outstanding performance by converting a penalty in the 90th minute to make it 4-1 and seal another historic triumph for Minerva Academy FC.
The numbers from the campaign further underline the extraordinary dominance of Minerva Academy FC in this year’s AIFF Sub-Junior League. Over the course of the tournament, the champions scored a staggering 112 goals while conceding only 17, and they recorded six clean sheets. Their attacking firepower, combined with defensive solidity, made them the undisputed best team in the competition and highlighted the remarkable development structure that continues to produce elite young footballers at the academy.
Several players delivered exceptional individual performances throughout the tournament and played a key role in Minerva’s successful title defence. Ngaiyaza Zingyo emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with an outstanding tally of 17 goals, consistently leading the attacking line with confidence and composure. Rimoson Singh Huidrom also enjoyed a phenomenal campaign, scoring 14 goals, while Thangmingun Kipgen contributed 12 goals. Mukhtar and Bickson further added to Minerva’s attacking brilliance by finishing with 12 goals each, showcasing the incredible depth and quality within the squad.
