Adopting a stern stance regarding the rape case of a minor girl, the Sriganganagar district administration used bulldozers to demolish three hotels early Wednesday morning. The ground floor shops of these hotels had already been vacated. District Collector Dr. Amit Yadav, Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar, and other officials were present at the site.

The DC said that, as part of strict action against illegal activities linked to this case, bulldozers were used on Hotel Joy Inn, Hotel Dream, and Hotel Safiyer. He clarified that hotels, guest houses, and other establishments involved in illegal activities would undergo regular inspections. The safety of women and girls is a top priority, and the joint campaign by the police and administration in this regard will continue.

The district police have arrested 14 suspected individuals in connection with this case so far. Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar said that upon receiving information on June 22, police took immediate action and safely rescued the victim.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar and Additional Superintendent of Police (Women’s Crime Investigation Cell) Neelam Chaudhary. Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kailashdan, the SIT—supported by the District Special Team, Cyber Team, FSL, and various local police units—acted on technical evidence, CCTV footage, and scientific investigation to arrest a total of 14 accused, including one hotel owner and two hotel managers.

A 14-year-old girl from a village on the Hanumangarh Road had been lured and forced into the flesh trade at these hotels. Between the night of June 18 and the afternoon of June 22, more than a dozen individuals allegedly raped the minor across different hotels. Hundreds of people had participated in a protest march against this heinous crime
