Face2News/Chandigarh

A special event was organised at the Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi to honour the players of Haryana’s Under-15 girls’ team and the Indian Special Olympics team. These young athletes will be representing the country at the Gothia Cup 2025 — the world’s largest youth football tournament — to be held from July 13 to 19 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Minister of State for Sports, Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, Sh. Gaurav Gautam, attended the event as the Chief Guest and wished the players a bright and successful future.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Gautam said that due to the visionary sports policies of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, Indian athletes are now shining on the global stage, be it in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, or other international competitions. India’s sports persons are winning medals and making the country proud, he added.

He also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana’s athletes are now making their mark globally, thanks to the state government’s consistent efforts to support young talent with world-class facilities, substantial cash rewards, and government jobs.

Several senior officers and others also remained present during the event.
