Panchkula Police is taking strict action against auto-rickshaw drivers who carry school children beyond the permitted capacity, with the aim of ensuring their safe travel. Commissioner of Police IPS Pankaj Nain has given clear instructions to the Traffic Police that there should be no compromise with the safety of school children and strict action must be taken against overloaded vehicles as per the law.
According to DCP Crime and Traffic IPS Amrinder Singh, a special checking drive was conducted today near the Government School in Sector-21, Panchkula. In the presence of City Traffic Police Station SHO Varinder Singh, the police team checked autos carrying school children. During the checking, 7 overloaded autos were challaned, while 4 autos violating the rules were impounded on the spot. The impounded autos were parked at the Sector-21 Police Post.
Commissioner of Police IPS Pankaj Nain made it clear that overloading in vehicles carrying children to and from school will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He has directed the Traffic Police to keep special watch on such vehicles and take strict action against drivers who carry more children than the permitted capacity. The Commissioner of Police also appealed to parents to check the condition of the auto-rickshaw and the number of children being carried in it while sending their children to school. Parents should immediately inform the police if they notice any negligence or violation of safety rules.
