Haryana Police has achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against absconding accused involved in serious and heinous crimes by arresting three accused wanted in the Jeevan Kundu murder case from Junagadh, Gujarat. Among those arrested is the main accused, Ramesh Sharma, who carried a reward of ₹50,000. With this action, all three key accused who had been absconding for a long time have been brought within the reach of law. Jeevan Kundu was Murdered on August 4
On August 4, 2026, Jeevan Kundu, a resident of Suryanagar, Hisar, was allegedly assaulted and killed by 10–12 persons. In connection with the incident, FIR No. 388 dated August 4, 2026, was registered at HTM Police Station, Hisar, under Sections 103(1), 126, 190, 191(2), 191(3) and 61 of the BNS.
Following the incident, the main accused Ramesh Sharma, resident of Suryanagar, Hisar; Vishal alias Baba, resident of Bharat Nagar, Hisar; and Saurabh alias Mold, resident of Suryanagar, Hisar, had been absconding. Haryana Police had announced a reward of ₹50,000 for information leading to the arrest of Ramesh Sharma.
Following the murder, considerable anger was reported among residents of Hisar city. Protests and sit-ins were also held demanding the arrest of the accused, raising concerns over the law-and-order situation in the area. Considering the seriousness of the case, Haryana Police deployed multiple teams to trace the absconding accused. The teams were continuously gathering inputs through technical surveillance and human intelligence. Acting on credible information received during the investigation, the police team arrested all three accused from Junagadh, Gujarat.
Hisar Police and the STF Hisar team played a crucial role in the operation.
The successful operation once again demonstrates that criminals who flee after committing serious offences cannot escape the law. Haryana Police is using technical surveillance, human intelligence and inter-state coordination to track down such offenders, regardless of where they attempt to hide.
Action Against Serious Offenders Will Continue: DGP Ajay Singhal
Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said that the police action against criminals involved in serious offences and elements posing a challenge to law and order would continue. He said the arrests send a clear message that criminals cannot remain beyond the reach of Haryana Police by hiding anywhere in the country. The DGP stated that the police force’s objective is not limited to arresting accused persons, but also includes ensuring justice for victims, strengthening the sense of security among the public and maintaining law and order in the state under all circumstances.
He congratulated the STF, Hisar Police and all other teams involved in the operation and said that no person involved in serious or heinous crimes would be allowed to evade the law.
