Representing the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), Minerva Public School made a strong start to its campaign in the 65th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament (Under-15), defeating Chhattisgarh 4-1 at the SFG Ground, Jalahalli.
Minerva dominated proceedings from the opening whistle with an aggressive 4-3-3 formation and an effective high-pressing strategy. Chhattisgarh, meanwhile, adopted a compact 5-4-1 low-block formation in an attempt to absorb the pressure and limit attacking spaces.
Minerva broke the deadlock as early as the first minute, with Albert finding the back of the net to give his side a 1-0 lead. The pressure continued and Rimoson doubled the advantage in the third minute with a close-range finish.
Minerva’s midfield controlled the tempo, while quick rotations on the wings repeatedly stretched the Chhattisgarh defence. Manichandra scored in the 17th minute to make it 3-0, before Mamesh completed Minerva’s four-goal burst with a composed finish in the 23rd minute.
Chhattisgarh managed to score a consolation goal later in the match, but Minerva remained organised and disciplined to secure a convincing 4-1 victory and open their Subroto Cup campaign on a winning note.
